A rolling-element bearing, also known as a rolling bearing, is a bearing which carries a load by placing rolling elements (such as balls or rollers) between two bearing rings called races. The relative motion of the races causes the rolling elements to roll with very little rolling resistance and with little sliding.

Bearings are widely used in restaurant equipment. They limit motion and reduce friction between moving parts. A bearing may provide for free linear or rotational movement of the part. Bearings are classified broadly according to the type of operation, the motion allowed, or to the direction of the load applied to the parts.

A flange is an external or internal ridge, or rim (lip), for strength or for attachment to another object, as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc. The term "flange" is also used for a kind of tool used to form flanges. Pipes with flanges can be assembled and disassembled easily.
