Doors are common in restaurant equipment design from refrigerators and freezers, to ovens to ice machines. A door is a hinged or otherwise movable panel that allows access to an enclosure, cabinet, bin, or other cavity or container.  A door assembly comprises the components that work in tandem to allow the door to function properly such as the door set, strike, catch and lock set. Doors may be hinged and swing open and closed, or they may slide within a frame. Very frequently, restaurant equipment doors feature tempered glass windows which allow for visual inspection or merchandising of food and beverage products.

As opposed to a caster, which rolls and may have a locking mechanism, a foot is a stationary weight-bearing implement at the base of a piece of restaurant equipment. It may be made of metal, plastic, or rubber and usually screws into the frame or base of the machine. A Foot Pedal refers to a foot controlled actuator or valve such as that used to turn on a machine or a faucet.

(Note: "foot" may also refer to a unit of measurement of length, width, and depth covering a distance equal to 12 inches.)

A heating element converts electrical energy into heat through the process of Joule heating. Electric current through the element encounters resistance, resulting in heating of the element. This process is independent of the direction of current.

The ohm is an electrical measurement defined as the resistance between two points of a conductor when a constant potential difference of one volt, applied to these points, produces in the conductor a current of one ampere.

The true measure of any refrigeration unit or refrigerated box is its performance over the years. Today, Bally refrigeration units can be found throughout the world, and many units from as early as 1960 can still be found operating just as well as it did on day one.
